Let's Cook; Let's Flavor Our Life.

Oscar Wilde said: “After a good dinner one can forgive anybody, even one’s own relations”. Having someone a dinner is a good way to start and preserve relationships. However, it is not simple to serve a good dish as we think, cooks also bring love, care, and sweetness into the food that they serve. Therefore, I chose cooking like a way to express my love to relatives.

I learned to cook from food that my mom put love into. I enjoyed my mom’s food, which is the best food in the world to me, and I wanted to become a talented cook like her. I enjoyed talking with my mom in the kitchen, helped her to carry out some errands; I studied her recipes and observed the ways she prepared them. One day, I secretly prepared a dinner for my family. I was so excited to let them try it. Yet when they tasted it, nobody said a word. Their attitude was not like what I expected. They sat in silence; I sadly tried the food, and that moment, everybody laughed at me.  They said it was fabulous. I was so happy and proud of myself. My mother did not know how could I do it. She promised to train me to be a great cook like her. I was given a small cooking task everyday then.

Besides cooking for people who I love, I also feel happy and relaxed whenever I am in the kitchen. When I am facing burdens, depression, or troubles, I research for new recipes with varying tastes from across the globe and just attempt them rather than lying down and thinking negatively. Doing so, I become a better cook delivering my love and care to those that I cherish the most. Every time I imagine their smiles when they try my new foods makes my sorrows disappear. The biggest and greatest moments always seem to come from our small kitchen. We enjoy spending time at home to cook together more than hanging out at any restaurants. Though life is busy, we still have time to spend caring for each other by having close meals everyday; that is a routine that should be kept for a lifetime. In the long run,
I will grow up, I will have to get a job, and cooking can help me to have a nice job at a restaurant. Cooking is also helpful in my future marriage by being a talented humble wife that can keep my relationship well nourished. Besides, someone once said: “The way to the man’s heart is through his stomach.” Cooking brings me a lot of benefits, so I can’t stop loving and improving my cooking skills.

I am a cook not only because I enjoy it, but I feel my life also connects to it. When chefs cook, based on the ingredients, they will make adequate changes to the food's shape and flavor where they see fit, all while retaining its based qualities. The same thing happens to us when our society and environment pushes us to be  better people based on our personality.  Everyday, I experience life's flavors: sweetness, bitterness, spiciness, and sourness from people around me. Life cooks me, life trains me, life hurts me, and life comforts me. These elements complete me, and make me a good and successful person like a beautiful and delicious dish that serves my society and country.

Cooking means a lot in my life, and without it, I am not who I am anymore. Although many challenges lie ahead for becoming a talented cook, I always try my best to overcome it by my mom's inspiration, my dad's motivation and my brother's expectation. Everybody has the option to choose a hobby suitable for them. Whatever we want to do, as long as we do it with all our heart, we will not only find love and success, we also will enjoy it in peace. So what are we waiting for?
